About Us

Originally founded in 1921, the company known today as Mitsubishi Electric has almost 100 years of experience in providing reliable, high-quality products to both corporate clients and general consumers all over the world.

The company was first established in the UK in the 1980’s and has grown to become one of Britain’s foremost manufacturers of commercial heating and cooling products.  

In 2007, a dedicated Heating Department was introduced to offer the revolutionary Ecodan air source heat pump system to the UK’s housing sector. Mitsubishi Electric’s manufacturing facility in Livingston, Scotland produces Ecodan for the UK and European markets. This low carbon, efficient*, residential heating system is ideal for Britain’s temperate climate and its introduction to the market is an integral part of the company’s Green Gateway Initiative, which asks all of us to question the energy we use in our built environment to find ways of reducing consumption and minimising carbon emissions.

The Green Gateway Initiative, which was developed by Mitsubishi Electric in the UK, is a wider part of the Corporation’s ‘Environmental Vision 2021’ initiative. This makes commitments to reduce CO2 emissions from product use by 30% by 2021 and expand development of power generation that does not emit CO2, such as PV and nuclear. The Mitsubishi Electric Group set 2021 as the target year in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company’s founding.
