DOMESTIC HEATING - For Social Housing
For Social Housing
Multiple award-winning Ecodan can help reduce a properties’ carbon footprint, combat fuel poverty and help to meet the demands made in The Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH).
The CfSH is an environmental assessment method for rating and certifying the performance of new homes. It is a Government national standard intended to encourage continuous improvement in sustainable home building.
Where is the CfSH required?
- All new housing funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is required to meet CfSH level 3.
-
All new housing promoted or supported by the Welsh Assembly Government or their sponsored bodies is required to meet CfSH level 3.
- All new self-contained social housing in Northern Ireland is required to meet CfSH level 3.
Increasingly some local authorities also require CfSH standards to be met as a condition of planning approval. Easy-to-install Ecodan can help a property achieve Level 3 of the CfSH and helps to lower household running costs.
Whether installed in small flats, or large detached properties, Ecodan can potentially significantly reduce running costs, lower CO2 emissions* and offer reliable, sustainable heating and hot water all year round for the overwhelming majority of homes.
Ecodan can be retro-fitted to almost any property from the 1970’s and older properties that have been thermally upgraded can also benefit from this low carbon alternative to traditional domestic hot water systems.
Maintenance on an Ecodan system is easier than gas as well, and with a professionally maintained Ecodan heat pump unit offering an average lifespan of 15 years, you’ll save on annual maintenance costs too.
*Potential low energy performance benefits will depend on satisfactory system design and installation, and operational settings, i.e.how you use the heating system.

SAP Appendix Q
SAP Appendix Q was launched in 2010. SAP Q allows you to enter performance data specific to Ecodan rather than using the default ASHP data in SAP. SAP Q generates a saving in kWh/year rather than a set COP or SPF. For more information watch the presentation below:
